Portfolio: From Vision to Measurable Impact

This portfolio showcases my work in instructional design, curriculum development, and learning experience strategy across higher education and workforce environments. Each project reflects my focus on aligning learning outcomes, improving instructional quality, and designing scalable, learner-centered solutions grounded in evidence-based practice.

Course Development

Project Overview
This video presents a course improvement initiative involving the revision of 15 Medical Assisting courses. The redesign focused on improving instructional alignment, particularly in medical terminology content and discussion-based learning activities. Following implementation, students demonstrated improved assessment scores and increased participation in online discussions.

Instructional Design Approach
The redesign was guided by adult pedagogy and outcomes-based instructional design principles. Key strategies included:

  • Strengthening alignment between learning objectives and assessments

  • Enhancing medical terminology instruction for clarity and retention

  • Redesigning discussion prompts to encourage deeper student engagement and peer interaction

  • Applying active learning strategies to increase student participation through integration of healthcare scenarios.

The project was developed using Canvas LMS, along with Quizlet, ChatGPT for instructional drafting support, and integration with McGraw-Hill instructional materials.

This video was recorded using Zoom and refined using HeyGen to enhance speech clarity and improve overall audio quality.

Medical Assistant Courses Revision

Project Overview
Served as the instructional designer for a series of micro-lessons in an introductory Anatomy and Physiology course. Collaborated closely with a subject matter expert to develop accurate, engaging instructional content and aligned assessments that supported course learning goals.

Design Approach:
Reviewed existing materials to identify learning gaps and structured objectives using the first three levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Incorporated formative knowledge checks to reinforce key concepts and support learner progression. Built the course in Articulate Rise, leveraging ChatGPT to draft and refine content, resulting in an interactive and accessible online learning experience.

Faculty Mentor Program

My Role
Spearheaded the design and implementation of a faculty mentor program aimed at enhancing first-year student retention by leveraging 20 adjunct faculty as strategic mentors. Defined program goals, developed comprehensive training materials, and facilitated workshops to equip faculty with the skills and strategies needed to support student success effectively.

Program Impact
The program resulted in a 10% increase in freshman student retention, strengthening both faculty development and student outcomes while supporting institutional strategic priorities.
